On April 25, 2012 around 3:20 am in Kansas City, MO, a couple woke up to a barking dog. The husband looked out the window and watched two burglars break into a nearby property that he owns and his daughter lives in, although she was away at the time. The man armed himself and confronted the burglars after calling police. By the time police arrived, the husband was holding one burglar on the front lawn at gunpoint with a gunshot wound to the leg. He has been arrested and charged with second degree burglary.
No one else was injured in the incident and the homeowner is not facing charges.
