Man with Gun Shoots Attacker with Knife

On December 30, 2012 around 11:10 am in Arcola, NC, Stanley Richardson, Jr., 38, was called by his frantic wife to return home because his cousin, Edward Richardson, 42, was intoxicated and acting aggressively towards her. He quickly returned home and told Edward to leave. Edward refused and came at Stanley with a knife. Stanley shot him once in the leg, but it did not stop Edward, who continued to charge toward him, forcing Stanley to shoot him until Edward no longer advanced toward him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured in the altercation. The homeowner will not be charged, since it was ruled that he was protecting himself, his wife, and child at the time.
