On January 13, 2013 around 7 pm in Pendleton, SC, Kevin Powers, 39, while armed, unlawfully entered the home of James Crawford. Crawford, himself armed, shot Powers in the leg in self-defense and called the police, who arrived and arrested Powers before he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Powers will face a charge of burglary in the first degree and possibly a charge of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
No one else was injured in the incident and no charges will be filed against Crawford.
