So why aren't we banning shotguns?

Skip to the 55 second mark below if you're in a rush. One man asked the vice president why, as overall gun ownership, including those labeled as "assault weapons" has gone up over the past ten years, the rate of violent crimes and homicide have plummeted. He linked the ability to own firearms to self protection during natural disasters that would prompt lawlessness, rioting, and looting and suggested that the vice president's recommendations would take away a person's ability to protect themselves.

Joe Biden's answer: "Well, guess what? A shotgun will keep you a lot safer. A double barreled shotgun than some assault weapon in somebody's hands who doesn't know how to use it, even does know how to use it. You know. It's harder to use an assault weapon to hit something than it is with a shotgun, ok? If you want to keep people away during an earthquake, buy some shotgun shells."

Well, there you have it, folks. The guy supposedly in charge of drafting intelligent and coherent gun control measures just fully admitted that his beloved shotguns are more dangerous than the "scary looking assault rifles" but he wants to keep working to ban the assault rifles anyway.

Hey, Mr. Vice President, how many rounds does your Beretta hold?
