On January 23, 2013 around 1 pm Athens, GA, Mark Sikes, 53, a US Army Combat Veteran who is wheelchair bound, was in his bed at home when his front door got kicked in. Sikes reached into his nightstand and pulled out his pistol. As the burglar came in, Sikes already had the pistol pointed at him and told him that he'd better "get the hell out." The burglar didn't wait for a second chance. He took off so fast that he dropped incriminating evidence that allowed police to identify a man they believe to be the intruder.

The suspect is described as being male, about 6 feet tall and 180-200 pounds. Someone explain to me how a wheelchair bound 53 year old man could have defended himself against a 6 foot, 180 pound 19 year old man without a gun.

Of course, no shots were fired and no one was injured.
