On January 24, 2013 around 11:30 pm in Omaha, NE, a homeowner shot a burglar trying to break into his home in the thigh and chest. Reportedly, the suspect pounded on the front door until the female resident went to answer it. As soon as she started to open the door, he tried to force his way inside. As she was struggling to keep him from getting in the house, the husband ran downstairs with his gun and shot the suspect twice. The man and his wife were the only occupants at the time. The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
No one else was injured in the altercation.
