On February 1, 2013 after dark in Detroit, MI, a 70 year old basketball coach was walking two of his female basketball players out to their cars at Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School. It was a good thing he did, otherwise we may be reading about two female teenagers raped, beaten, murdered, or some combination thereof. While the three were walking across the parking lot, two men approached them; one pulled out a gun and put it to the man's face as he grabbed a chain around his neck. The coach, who has a license to carry a concealed handgun, pulled it out and shot both of the attackers. One was found in the median a short way away. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was taken to a local hospital.

No one else was injured in the incident and the coach will likely not face any charges since he acted in self-defense.

  1. "...the coach will likely not face any charges ..." That is so wrong! The word "likely" should not be in that sentence at all. In fact, it should read, "...the coach will receive the City's highest Medal of Valor, and $5000 for his actions resulting in the safety of the two students and in ridding the City of two legged trash."

  2. Whoa... Enthusiasm's good, but if you believe that every person has a right to self-defense, then you believe that rewards are not necessary for doing what you should do to begin with. The reason "likely" is used is because it is fair reporting and since the DA had not reviewed the case when the story was published, it was a best guess based on evidence available to the public.

    1. I disagree. In Oklahoma, and other Castle Doctrine states, the statement would have read, "... Coach will not face any charges because he was defending himself and his students from criminal aggression." No "likely" about it.
As for my suggestion of a reward, he saved the city of Detroit and State of Michigan much money because the City will not have to spend money to incarcerate the goblins before trial, will not have the expense of a trial, will not have the expense of maintaining the goblins in prison, and the two will never, EVER, violate the law again. Coach may have the expense of psychological counseling, which the city should pay for, because if the justice system had done its job years ago, he would not have been put in the position of having to defend himself and others from these two wastes of oxygen. Besides, citizens get paid for jury duty, and that is an activity citizens should do to begin with.
If goblins discover that they are no longer a protected species, and that instead there is a bounty paid for them, except for the hard-core stupid, they just might decide to do something else.

    2. You are good people, and I fully agree to the approval of the action of the coach, but it's too bad that the main issue for you is to save tax payers money.

  3. I know of a similar event, yrs ago a small man from Lousiana was visiting Hollywood Ca as a tourist. He carried a small gun in his pocket, ,, 2 black teens "Youths" so called at risk Youths approached him with a knife to rob him " I will cut you etc" they said to him. Small man shoots, wounds, does not kill the guy with the knife. 2nd robber flees. 1st perp crawls to Hollywood blvd for help. Victim walks away, no one dies, no one is robbed, no police are called. I say win win for the good guys.
