On January 26, 2013 around 6:15 pm in Gardena, CA, a robbery suspect approached an off-duty security guard, simulating a handgun in his pocket, and demanded his money. The victim, fearing for his life, pulled out his concealed handgun and shot the robber in the stomach. The robber immediately retreated inside a nearby swap meet where he collapsed on the floor and was subsequently transported to a local hospital.
No one else was injured in the altercation.
