Jason Overholt, 34
Matthew Cheadle, 31
On January 18, 2013 around 1:00 pm in Bellefontaine, OH, 70 year old Larry Robinaugh returned to his home to find Jason Overholt, 34, in his living room. Robinaugh is licensed to carry a concealed handgun and was fortunate to be carrying at the time. He drew his gun and ordered the burglar, half his age, to the ground. He called 911 and waited for a deputy to come put Overholt in handcuffs. While Overholt was being placed under arrest, Robinaugh went upstairs to find Matthew Cheadle, 31. He went through the same drill, ordering him to the ground at gunpoint and waiting for the deputy to come handcuff him. Both burglars were found wearing masks, hooded jackets, gloves, and possessed tools for breaking and entering.

Each has been charged with felony counts of aggravated burglary and possession of criminal tools.

No one was injured in the incident and no shots were fired. If you are a gun control activist who believes that every time someone pulls out a gun, people are killed and that ordinary citizens are not capable of responsibly defending themselves with a gun without hurting innocent people around them, go back and read that first sentence again.

This story was next to impossible to find; with the exception of the one news source listed at the link above, the other search results include the Sheriff's Department website that provides a record of their arrest and booking and a couple blogs that have picked up the story as well. For every one story like this that ends with no shots fired, there are dozens that have the same result, but aren't reported in any newspaper, on any radio, or on any tv news program, which makes them impossible for me to report.
