Store Owner Shoots Robber

On January 9, 2013 around 10:30 am in Independence, KS, Kenny Preble was open for business in his store, Uncle Ken's Coin Shop when an armed suspect entered the store and demanded cash. After Preble handed the man some money, a struggle ensued in which Preble produced his own handgun and both men were shot. Preble was shot in the left arm while the suspect was shot multiple times and fled the store, collapsing about a block away where police apprehended him.

Preble is recovering from surgery. Police recovered the stolen money on the suspect.
