Armed Woman Shoots and Kills Burglar/Rapist in Her Home

 Around 1 am on March 3, 2012 in Gastonia, NC, Kenneth James Cox, 28, broke into a home occupied by a single female resident. Hearing the break-in, the woman immediately called 911, stayed in her bedroom, and grabbed her gun. She told the 911 operator that she was in her bedroom with her gun pointed at the door and begged the 911 operator to get police there faster; just moments later, shots were heard and she reported to the operator that the man had just tried coming into her room and she had shot him.

 When police arrived, they found the man dead and the woman uninjured. Cox and the woman did not know each other and it's not clear what his intentions were. It's anyone's guess whether he was there to rob her, rape her, murder her, or all three.
