Description of Bad Guy(s): | Thomas Lee Sargent, 36, and an accomplice tried to break into a home by crawling through the dog door | ||||
Description of Good Guy(s): | Unnamed homeowner, whose dog began barking, woke up and went to investigate with a handgun. He spotted Sargent coming through the dog door and chased him out of the house. The accomplice was standing in the yard and started to raise what appeared to be a gun, causing the homeowner to fire several shots at him, forcing the two to flee so quickly that they dropped their car keys | ||||

Outcome: | The dropped car keys led police to their vehicle and linked Sargent to the crime scene. No one was injured by the gunfire. The homeowner was not charged with any crime | ||||
