Late on February 16, 2013 in Tuscaloosa, AL, two men had been drinking in a bar when one of the men suddenly became agitated and punched his victim in the face for no apparent reason before pulling a knife and lunging at him. The victim grabbed a handgun, which had been lying on the bar, and pointed it at him. The knife-wielding attacker kept coming at him, grabbing the gun in the victim's hand as he fired.

When police arrived, they found the victim with several injuries to his face and arms and the attacker still on the floor, bleeding, while holding his knife. He had to be restrained to all emergency medical personnel to treat and transport him.

No one else was injured from the gun except for the intended target. The victim will not face charges at this time as police say the evidence points to a clear case of self-defense according to the injuries and the statements of witnesses.
