Couple Returns Home to Find Burglar in Their House; Burglar Gets Shot

On the afternoon of February 4, 2013 in Garrard County, KY, David Baker and his wife returned home to find their front door open. Baker yelled into the home that whoever was in the home needed to show himself before he confronted the intruder. After a brief verbal altercation, Baker shot the intruder in the arm, who immediately fled the scene on foot and was eventually caught by the State Police and identified as 26 year old Jarred Pitman.

No one else was injured in the altercation and it's likely that Pitman will face multiple charges, although burglary is already guaranteed.
