Around 11 am on February 4, 2013 in Salt Lake City, UT, the owner of a small convenience store spotted a  man in distress outside his store, pacing back and forth and crying. The owner had a customer invite him into the store so he could offer him his phone to call someone for help. But when the man entered the store, he pulled out a knife and demanded money out of the cash register.

The store owner, however, kept his cool; he pulled out his gun and pointed it at the would-be robber, telling him to go ahead and leave his knife on the counter and walk out. The man complied without resistance, leaving his knife on the counter and exiting the store. The owner called 911 and gave police a description of the man, who spotted him later at a Kentucky Fried Chicken nearby.

Luis Guiterrez Gonzales, 30, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He had previously been charged with theft in 2001. The owner claims that he has been robbed before and now keeps a gun for safety. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
