On January 31, 2013 around 4 pm in Layton, UT, a homeowner returned home to find a vehicle parked in front of his house with two occupants, a man and a woman. As he started to walk towards his house, the driver of the car started honking the horn. A man emerged from the homeowner's house with a pry bar in his hand. The homeowner grabbed his gun and fired twice at the man with the pry bar, who changed directions and fled to the backyard while the getaway car took off. The homeowner managed to corner the burglar in his backyard and held him there until police arrived and arrested him.

No one was injured in the incident.
