On Wednesday morning, May 11, 2011, a 53 year old woman was getting out of the shower in her Duluth, GA home when she discovered Israel Perez Puentes, age unknown, standing in her bathroom with a kitchen knife. A struggle ensued and the woman fell in the tub, injuring herself. Puentes forced her into the bedroom, where she told him she had money; instead, she grabbed a .22 caliber handgun and shot him nine times. Puentes ran out the back of the house and collapsed in the back yard. He was transported to a local hospital where he died of his wounds. Police suspect that he may have been involved in other sexual assaults in the area. According to neighbors, his car had been spotted in the neighborhood as much as a week before the attack, indicating that he had been watching and planning his attack. He had also been arrested for burglary less than a year before.

One more firearm homicide in the stat book, but at least one less rape, possibly even more.
