On October 4, 2012 in Salinas, CA, two armed suspects, both 17, entered a restaurant, holding the owner, employees, and several customers at gunpoint as they demanded money. A man associated with one of the patrons of the restaurant retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and returned to the restaurant, shooting both of the suspects. He killed one; the other was transported to a local hospital for surgery in critical condition.
No one else was injured in the incident and no charges are being filed against the good samaritan who rescued the restaurant.
