Just after midnight on January 9, 2013 in St. Louis, MO, a 48 year old man brandishing a handgun was threatening and harassing a group of people. He fired a shot, prompting one of the men in the group that was being threatened to feel like his life was in danger, causing him to pull out his own legally concealed handgun and shoot the aggressor. He struck him in the upper arm, causing him to quickly flee from the scene to about a block away where he called police. Police arrived and transported him to a local hospital, only to arrest him for the incident earlier.

Police verified that the man who shot the aggressor had a valid concealed carry permit and was not detained by police. No one else was injured in the incident.
