Man Attacked with Baseball Bat Uses Handgun to Stop Attacker

Around 8 pm on January 1, 2012 in Shingletown, CA, Lynn Hamilton, 56, fatally shot Lee Roy Thibault, 42. According to witnesses, Thibault had threatened to cut off Hamilton's head while holding a chainsaw. The verbal threats escalated when Thibault came onto Hamilton's driveway wielding a baseball bat, threatening to kill him. He then began beating Hamilton with the bat. Hamilton was able to pull out his concealed handgun (finally) and shot Thibault, who died at the scene.

No charges have been filed against Hamilton.
