On December 26, 2012 in Abilene, TX, a woman, 33, shot and killed her 34 year old ex-boyfriend, Earnest Gonzalez, after he yelled death threats from her yard, kicked in her front door, and began attacking her and her 16 year old daughter with a newborn infant in the house as well at around 2 AM. Apparently, he had also been to the house the previous day and tried to kick in the front door, but had fled when he was told the police had been called and were on the way.
Gonzalez had a criminal history dating back to 1995, which included aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and harassing communication. Sounds like a winner.
Another firearm homicide statistic, but at least we're not reading about a perpetual domestic violence victim or the possible three homicides that could have occurred had she not had a gun and used it.
