On December 3, 2012 in Battle Creek, MI, Michael Honyoust, 28, entered the Liberty Mart Convenience Store and demanded money from the stores owner, Pardeep Singh. Singh gave him money, but when the amount wasn't enough, Honyoust brandished a knife and threatended Singh to give him more, climbing onto the counter to get at Singh. At that time, Singh drew his gun and shot Honyoust. He was transported to a local hospital where he died two weeks later.

Honyoust had a criminal history of burglary and arson. The probability that Mr. Singh ended many more potential crimes is high.
