Around 1 pm on January 4, 2013 in Loganville, GA, Paul Slater, 32, broke into the home of a family while the wife and her nine year old twins were home. The woman was working upstairs when she spotted the strange man outside her house. Seeking to evade before fighting, she took her children and a .38 revolver into crawlspace and tried to hide while she heard him break into the home with a crowbar. Despite her best efforts to avoid confrontation, the intruder eventually found the woman and her children, but when he did, he was staring at the barrel of her revolver. She shot him five times out of six shots fired and then stood over him trying to detain him for police. Instead, the man ran off to his car, which he crashed not far down the road and then collapsed in a nearby driveway. He was transported to a local hospital, where he remains under police supervision.

Slater was arrested in February of this past year on simple battery charges. He has been arrested six other times since 2008.
