On October 2, 2012 just before 10:00 AM in Wichita, KS, a local store owner, Steve Yager, 65, saw a man walking toward him on a relatively empty street while waiting in his truck for his employees to arrive for work. Despite the warm day, the man approaching him had a hooded sweatshirt with the hood drawn tightly over his head and his hands in his pocket. The man, estimated between 18-23, walked up to him and asked for the time. Yager deflected by telling him there were some clocks in the window of a store next door. The man walked away and then quickly returned, saying "Why don't you just go ahead and give me your billfold and I won't have to pull my gun." Yager reached like he was pulling out his billfold but instead pulled out his handgun and stuck it in the man's face. The robber's eyes got very large and he quickly tried to move away, claiming he was just kidding. He ran away.
