This was a couple of months ago, but the irony should not go unreported.

On August 28, 2012 at about 9:30 AM, Roberto Barron, 38, approached an unnamed female victim outside Bonham Academy in San Antonio, TX and began an argument. Allegedly, he and the victim have a child together. According to witnesses, the argument heated and Barron took out a knife and began stabbing the victim repeatedly in the upper torso and neck. Several witnesses observed the affair, but it was a responsible citizen carrying a legally permitted concealed handgun who ended it by removing his weapon, pointing it at Barron, and ordering him to drop the knife.

No shots were fired. Barron ran to try to hide the knife and disappeared. The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Do I have to point out the obvious? Sure: a man with a weapon other than a gun attacks a woman; no one wants to try to stop a man with a knife if they are unarmed; a man with a gun stops the man with the knife (I guess it's true that no one wants a knife in a gunfight); and the whole thing takes place right in front of a school.
