Imagine that you're home two days before Christmas and one of your kids is having some friends over for a sleepover. At about 3 in the morning, you hear one of your windows break or a door kicked in and when you grab your gun and go investigate, you discover three men, armed, breaking into your house.

That's the scenario encountered by a homeowner in Sacramento last week. Police are still investigating, but what is known is that one of the intruders was shot dead while the other two were wounded. The homeowner was wounded as well, but no one else was injured in the altercation, to include the kids in the sleepover or any neighbors. The media is also not reporting what kind of weapons were used.

Quick question: Who is the victim here--the homeowner or the three armed burglars who broke into his house? Remember your answer, and then click HERE for the local NBC affiliate's take on their answer. If you can't find it on your first glance, they wrote "At this time, Sacramento police will not release the names of the shooter or the victims." Shooter is singular, referring to the homeowner, who was also shot; victims is plural and refers to the robbers. Really?
