Description of Bad Guy(s): | LaTay McKelly, 21, armed with a pistol, walked into a coin shop and while the owner was distracted with a piece of jewelry McKelly said he wanted appraised, pulled out a gun and pistol whipped him on the head before pulling the trigger three times. Fortunately, the gun failed to fire | ||||
Description of Good Guy(s): | Fred Vandegraff, armed store owner, pulled out his concealed handgun and shot McKelly, striking him once and causing him to flee the scene | ||||
Type of Gun Used: | Hand Gun | ||||
Outcome: | Police were able to catch McKelly when he went to the hospital for a mysterious gun shot wound. No one else was injured by the gunfire. Vandegraff has not been charged with any crime and only received minor treatment on scene for the pistol-whipping | ||||
