Description of Good Guy(s): | Nancy Pennypacker, 86, the mother of William Pennypacker. When her son began punching her in the face repeatedly and pulled out a gun, she withdrew a nearby gun and shot him | ||||

Outcome: | William was killed, but not before he shot his mother once in the shoulder. She was treated for her injuries. No one else was injured by the gunfire. Authorities do not believe Nancy will face any charges. | ||||

Don't get me wrong; it's horrible for a mother to have to kill her own son in self-defense. However, William was already arrested in July 2011 for battery on his mother and again in July 2012 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against her. Were it not for a gun, Nancy could very well be dead. A homicide still gets tossed into the statistics, but at least it's a bad guy that died and not a good guy.
