On November 14, 2012 around 6:00 PM in Houston, TX, the owner of a cell phone store shot an armed robber after he entered the store, brandishing a weapon, and demanding money. He shot him twice, causing the robber to immediately flee into a getaway vehicle so fast that he left his own handgun behind. No one else was injured in the incident. The robber went to a local hospital where he died.
I would really like to see what the firearm homicide statistic looks like when you subtract all of the justified self-defense shootings. There seem to be a lot of them. Even those who don't carry or own guns get the freeloader effect by seeing reduced numbers of criminals on the streets who could eventually target them.
